The North-Eastern Federal University was named after MK Ammosov. It was formerly known as Yakutsk University. The university is one of the largest institutions for higher education in Russia, and it also holds a place in the ten federal universities of the country. The official name of the university is Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education. The name of the university is given from the name of an outstanding statesman and one of the founders of Yakutia and Kyrgyzstan’s statehood – Maksim Kirovich Ammosov.
